Elon Musk’s position as an adviser to Donald Trump has led many to argue about Tesla and Twitter CEO's new grift.
According to Trump’s official policy page, he has 10 main policies that he will implement into the school system. Each policy can best be summarized into 5 categories: Parental Choice, Ban on supposed “Leftist policies”, School Security, Work-based curriculum, and prayer in schools.
In terms of Parental Choice, Trump heavily emphasizes anti-transgender policies, aiming to “cease all programs that promote the concept of sex and gender transition, at any age.” Additionally, Trump says that he would force parents “to be immediately notified if a teacher or other school employee has worked to change their children’s name, pronouns, or understanding of his or her gender.” Parents must be aware of changing “academic standards” or changes in curriculum, updated on acts of violence, “inspect professional development materials”, “be notified before an out-of-school guest speaks in class or at a school event”, to be aware of schools’ budgets, to know if a school employee is addressing bullying or mental health concerns, and to know what healthcare is being distributed.” Trump proposes that parents will directly elect school principals by the parents. In order to enforce these policies, “ Trump will implement funding preferences and favorable treatment for states and school districts that abolish teacher tenure for grades K-12.”
In regard to banning “Leftist Policies”, Trump says he “will get Critical Race Theory, transgender ideology, and left-wing indoctrination out of our schools”, and says he “will get reading, writing, and arithmetic back in.” However, it is worth mentioning that this phrase is a bit misleading, as the national curriculum already included all of these subjects. Soon-to-be President Trump says that “decades of poor scholarship have vilified our Founders and the principles that they championed and have taught many of our young people to hate their own country.” To do this, Trump wants to reinstate the 1776 Commission. A quote from the official 1776 commission says education “can only be done by truthfully recounting the aspirations and actions of the men and women who sought to build America as a shining ‘city on a hill’—an exemplary nation, one that protects the safety and promotes the happiness of its people.” Trump’s official website also says that he “will promote positive education about the nuclear family, the roles of mothers and fathers, and celebrating rather than erasing the things that make men and women different and unique.” Finally, Trump plans to “revoke Joe Biden’s sinister executive order mandating that federal departments establish an ‘equity’ enforcement squad to implement a Marxist takeover of the federal government.”
As for school security, Trump’s website says that he “will end the leftist takeover of school discipline and the juvenile system. He will order the Departments of Justice and Education to overhaul federal standards on disciplining minors to get violent thugs out of our children’s classrooms so they can get the professional help they need.” In order to secure the school from outside threats, Trump proposes that he will direct “federal funding to hire veterans, retired police officers, and other trained gun owners as armed guards in our nation’s schools.” Trump is also concerned with drugs distributed at schools, saying “He will also look at whether common psychiatric drugs, as well as genetically engineered cannabis and other narcotics, are causing psychotic breaks.” However, it is worth mentioning that any medication distributed at a school is verified by the FDA, and prescription drugs must be prescribed by a professional doctor and to be given in school must have a parent/legal guardian give permission.
Trump also proposes a “work-based” education system. Trump describes the primary goal of education as “getting a great job best suited to your God-given talents.” Trump adds that he “will implement funding preferences for schools with job and career counselors on hand.” In addition, Trump says that he would like to implement more “project-based” curriculums in the classroom.
Trump also places an emphasis on reversing previous restrictions on religion in school, saying that he will expand upon “white House updated federal guidance regarding protected prayer and religious expression in public schools.”
