Hello Braves! What a year it’s been. Serving on Student Council for the 2024–2025 school year has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of our high school journey. In a year full of transition, before major structural and schedule changes across the district, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with students, faculty, and administration to ensure your voices were heard and your needs prioritized. Through this, we look forward to seeing the Indian Hills community continue to prosper with all the changes to come!
It has been such an incredible experience and honor to be part of something with so much opportunity for positive change and collaboration. In working together, we have been able to foster past initiatives, revive old experiences from pre-COVID, and be a part of Indian Hills’s legacy.
It’s been an honor to be part of a council that revived beloved traditions, supported ongoing programs, and created new experiences to bring our school together. One highlight was our Spring Pep Rally—a vibrant and emotional event, especially for those of us experiencing our last one. Seeing the gym packed with Braves, cheering and celebrating as one, reminded us why we do this work in the first place.
In partnership with the Harmonic Outreach Club, we also brought back Open Mic Night, a once-popular pre-COVID tradition. Watching students showcase their creativity and talents on stage was both inspiring and a reminder of how much our community has to offer. We hope this event continues to grow for years to come.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to end the year on a high note with Hillsapalooza on June 11th! With support from student clubs, advisors, and staff, this celebration will bring everyone together one last time before summer break, with activities, prizes, and plenty of fun throughout all lunch periods. Make sure to visit during all of your lunch periods!
As our time on Student Council comes to a close, we are incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made—and even more excited for what’s next. We’ve each brought our own experiences and perspectives to this role, all with the goal of making life at Indian Hills more meaningful and connected. All of us have been so happy to see the level of prosperity and growth that Indian Hills has had during our term within Student Council, and we implore you all to continue to share your perspectives with us as our terms come to a close.
To the underclassmen: we encourage you to stay involved. Whether it’s sharing your ideas, attending events, or even running for Student Council in the future, your voice matters. If there’s one lesson we’ve learned, it’s that being open, collaborative, and willing to listen to all sides makes you not just a better leader but a better community member. Having open dialogue with administrators, faculty, and Ramapo students has allowed me to hear a multitude of perspectives and ideas that allow my own beliefs to be improved through hearing a side I may not have considered.
As we approach the end of a successful school year, I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being such welcoming and kind individuals whom I have had the pleasure of working alongside and representing. To next year’s council members: we’re cheering you on. I wish the student council candidates for next year the best of luck and encourage you all to reach out to past officers, advisors, or faculty as you step into this important role. It truly goes by in the blink of an eye!
