After nearly three years without introducing new offerings, the College Board has announced the launch of two brand-new Advanced Placement (AP) courses: AP Cybersecurity Fundamentals and AP Business Principles/Personal Finance. These courses will be available to schools starting this fall as part of the AP Career Kickstart program, which aims to prepare students for high-demand careers.
AP Cybersecurity Fundamentals will cover the basics of computer networking, including how computers communicate, network hardware, and cybersecurity practices. Designed for students interested in technology, this course provides a foundation in how computers function and interact securely. As an added benefit, students who earn a qualifying score on the AP exam will receive a free voucher to take an industry-recognized certification exam—an opportunity to boost both college and career readiness.
AP Business Principles/Personal Finance introduces students to essential business concepts such as entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, accounting, and management. The course emphasizes real-world application through case studies and project-based learning. Whether or not students plan to pursue business in college, the College Board highlights that the skills taught are practical and widely applicable.
Students at Indian Hills should consider these new courses when making their future schedules, especially if they’re looking to explore fields in technology or business, or simply want to build valuable life skills.
