Although apparel sales, Krispy Kreme fundraisers, and give-back nights seem like typical ways to raise money, these class fundraising endeavors have a big impact on high school activities. Classes generally begin fundraising freshman year to raise money for future high school milestone activities, such as junior and senior prom. Student Council President Tristan Casella stated, “For each class, there are a lot of different fundraisers that prioritize different things. I’d say aside from the goals that each class has, the main goal of what funding goes towards is junior and senior prom. Since it’s such an important end-of-year event with a big cost, we try to make it as conveniently priced as possible through fundraising, otherwise, there would be some class events that are unable to be held or would be a lot more expensive for students to attend.” This shows the importance of fundraising to make class events memorable and accessible for all students.
Similarly, class fundraising is used to make senior class events memorable. “Various fundraisers like Krispy Kreme doughnuts, ongoing chocolate pretzel sales, and lollipop sales have benefited the Class of 2025,” noted President of the Senior Class Gabi Robayo. “Our council uses the funds to lessen the cost of prom tickets and purchase favors for the event. We also provide breakfasts to celebrate milestones at the end of senior year! I appreciate the support of the school community, which helps contribute to the success of our fundraisers.” Robayo’s sentiment, paired with Casella’s, demonstrates the importance of class fundraising because the funds raised directly benefit students and help make events like prom and senior sunrise unforgettable experiences.
Class council also uses fundraising to connect with the student body and make an impact on the community. Junior Class President Anella Cavalieri commented that “Fundraising is super important. Without fundraising and donations from parents, many fun events wouldn’t be able to run. Fundraising also allows the student council to help others. Specifically, events such as Powderpuff allow funds raised to help those in need by using the money for [charitable] donations.” These events benefit both students and the local community. Students benefit through being able to participate in fundraisers such as Powderpuff, where they team up with others and build connections within the school community, while the local community benefits by receiving funds used to help those in need.
Overall, class fundraising is very important because it makes an impact on events that the majority of Indian Hills students participate in. Students can get involved in class fundraising efforts by staying up-to-date on Schoology, participating in events, and sharing fundraisers with friends and family to make events the most successful they can be!
