When summed up, Ryan Morrison’s career wrestling for the Indian Hills Braves has been nothing short of excellent. Accumulating over 50 total wins and placing high, if not winning a decent amount of Wrestling tournaments, Morrison has been one of the most dominant wrestlers for the Braves in his time with the team. Wrestling up at the heavy weight class of 215, Morrison has used his crushing strength and techniques to glide through his competition and take them down by either pin or major decision. One of Morrison’s most incredible accomplishments where he battled his way to the top was at the 2026 NJSIAA Districts. Morrison became the first Braves wrestler in over 10 years to secure first place in the NJSIAA District Tournament, a big feat that Morrison can surely carry along with him for years to come. When asked about what it meant to him, Morrison said that, “Winning the District title meant so much to me and to be able to break that decade-long streak is a privilege.” Morrison also placed 2nd at the Battle of the Brook tournament, which is a tournament hosted at Saddle Brook high school, consisting of over 20 other schools. Morrison’s performance in the tournament was a crucial reason why the Braves won the entire thing and beat out all of the other schools. Also, Morrison was able to place in the top 8 in the Bergen County Tournament, another incredible accomplishment to have. Lastly, Morrison placed in the top 3 at the Cutter Classic Tournament, which is another tournament hosted by Fairlawn High School.
Besides all of his wins and accomplishments, Morrison has also positively impacted the lives of many of his teammates. A Freshman on the team, Jordan Madonna, regards that, “Ryan Morrison is the leader of our team and knows the perfect balance of a leader and a friend. He will go out with us after a good win and fool around with us in the room but when it’s time to get serious, he makes sure we are prepared. He leads us in warm ups and almost anything else we do representing our team in the most polite manner.” Wrestling has become a big part of Ryan’s life, and although he plans on wrestling in the future at the collegiate level, it definitely won’t be easy to say goodbye to all of his high school teammates and leave them behind. However, all of the memories that Ryan has made with the team and his teammates are sure to leave a lasting impact with him. When questioned, Morrison states that what he will miss most about high school wrestling is, “I will miss my team, there’s no way I would’ve been able to accomplish my dreams without my brothers and coaches. They push me to be a better version of myself every time I step into the room.” There is no doubt that Morrison that the feeling will be reciprocated, and that he will be heavily missed by his teammates and coaches after he graduates, for all that he has given and done for them during his time with the team. Morrison isn’t just leaving with a bunch of tearful goodbyes and “thank you’s” however, Ryan is also moving on with all of the life lessons and takeaways that Wrestling has taught him. When asked about what he’s learned from Wrestling all these years, Morrison stated, “Something wrestling has taught me is to dream big and let my hard work lead me in the right direction. It’s shown me how valuable a team of people you love can be.”
All that Ryan Morrison has accomplished for the Indian Hills Wrestling program in his years with the team will certainly not be forgotten, and he will be forever thanked and remembered for dedication and hard work that he put forth for his team every time he stepped foot on the Wrestling mat. Morrison has no doubt cemented his legacy among the great wrestlers of Indian Hills and has made every single second of his time with the program completely worth it.
Ryan was not only an incredible wrestler, but he was also a helpful teammate to those around him, and a great role model to those below him whether Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors.
