Spring Lake Day Camp: Ringwood
Spring Lake Day Camp (SLDC) is hiring counselors to work for eight weeks – 8:30am to 4:15pm between Monday June 26th and Thursday August 17th (plus training sessions beforehand). Counselors are expected “to be a team player, to be flexible and creative, to develop a strong work ethic and to sharpen [their] communication skills.” Responsibilities consist of taking care of 12-15 campers with the help of two co-counselors, maintaining the camp schedule, and participating in group activities. Working as a camp counselor at SLDC comes with a variety of benefits, including free coffee every morning, weekly yoga sessions, staff breakfast, bus options to get to work, and raffle prizes. Mindy Pearlman, staff director, added, “We are looking for energetic, responsible, and mature high school and college students looking to have a fun summer as counselors, lifeguards and specialists. This is an opportunity to make a difference in their summers as well as in the life of a camper.” Applications are due May 1st.
Bergen Performing Arts Center: Englewood
Musically-minded students may be interested in working at the BergenPAC in Englewood. BergenPAC is hiring front desk receptionists and counselors for their musical theater summer program. There are two sessions: July 3-20 (off July 4), 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Thursday, and July 31-August 17, 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Thursday.
YWCA: Mahwah
Counselors at the YWCA Mahwah camp will assist their head counselor in supervising a group of 10-15 kids through arts and crafts, swimming, and other activities. The camp operates between June 26th and August 25th, 8 hours per day. Counselors earn up to $14.50 per hour. Applicants must be 18 or older.
YMCA: Ridgewood
The Ridgewood YMCA Day Camp is in session between June 26th and August 18th, with required training sessions in June. Counselors are responsible for the care of their group of campers and communication with the camp director. Cara Apsley, senior director of childcare and camp, said, “We are looking for counselors who are responsible, caring, upbeat, and ready to be role models to our campers.” Interested candidates should apply as soon as possible to secure their spot!
Spa 23 Fitness and Lifestyle: Pompton Plains
CAMP Spa 23 runs from June 27th to August 26th at the Pequannock Valley Park. Counselors are responsible for the care of campers, setting up materials, and organizing groups. Applicants must be 17 or older and receive CPR training (classes are provided as needed). As a perk, counselors will receive a free Spa 23 membership.
YMCA: Wyckoff
The Wyckoff Y is seeking lifeguards, swim instructors, gate guards, and camp counselors for this summer. Swim instructor roles may also be year-round, up to 7 days/week. Interviews are conducted on a rolling basis, with flexible schedules. Applicants should be prepared to complete training and work with young children.
