Softball
Some may count this as a rebuilding year for our softball team however this team, while young, possess insane amounts of talent and dedication to this sport. Coach Leicht stated, “The Indian Hills varsity softball team is ready to begin a new season on April 3. As with every year, the team expects to contend for Division, County, and State honors. The team this year is young (two seniors) but it is a very talented group which should include some sophomore and freshman starters. The Braves move into the Patriot Division of the Big North Conference this spring. It is a very strong Division so coupled with a very challenging out of Division schedule the Braves are in for a very interesting year.” The team has two seniors, Natalie Lorenzo and Lugia Mayer-Costa, leading the way. As well as having three freshmen on the team. One of the freshmen, Audrey Amoruso was nominated to be an athlete of the week, and junior, Mikayla Amoruso was nominated to be softball player of the year.
Record 20-8
Boys Lacrosse
Boys Lacrosse is another senior-dominated team this season, evident through the power and camaraderie of this team. Senior Liam Gallagher stated, “So far we are 6-2 after just beating Fair Lawn who was first in our division. Our team is largely composed of seniors so we’ve all been playing together for a while and make a reappearance in the state sectional. A lot of credit also goes to our new head coach O’Connor [who has been] helping us reach our potential.” The team has had six high-scoring wins whilst only losing two by a margin of only eight points. In addition, this team just won their game on Senior night. Watch out for more big wins for the Braves as they continue this promising season.

Baseball
Baseball is back at it this year with efforts to contend for multiple tournaments in the future. Coach Hill stated, “We’re hoping to make the states and county tournament. Last year we won the BIT, but this year we want to make the regular county tournament, which is difficult in Bergen County. Our league is extremely difficult, but we’re hoping with our experienced pitching staff we can compete. We have a very small freshmen group but they are working hard. I know them all, with just a few exceptions, for the most part since they were young and we’re very excited to see them develop.” With this personal connection between coach and players along with the immense talent of the team, including many athletes planning on playing in college, Braves Baseball will undoubtedly have a successful season.
Record 9-14-1
Spring Track
Spring track has had an extremely successful start to the season as they competed in the Bergen County and Penn relays. Kayla O’Neil, a senior on the team stated, “On the individuals’ side, our team is scoring very well this year. To put it into perspective, we just had Bergen County Relays last week where boys placed first in nearly every relay in Group C, including 4×200, 4×1600, sprint medley, 4×800, and distance medley relay. In Group C, girls went second in the 4×1600, and third in the 4×100, 4×400, 4×800, and distance medley relay. Teamwise, boys got second in Group C and girls got fourth, however, the team lacks depth so we won’t be able to win big meets like that unless we get more people. Next week we start our championship season with leagues at the Big North conference where our athletes are predicted to place well.”

Rhys is as good as any player in the county, Steven is as talented as any player. Evan continues to improve every year and is a very good player for us. Brian provides us with a relentless worker and continues to contribute to our team. As for the freshmen, we have two instant contributors. We have Nicholas Hopeck and Brody Lenc both who have tremendous potential. As for team goals, I hope to return to both counties and state sectionals and compete for a sectional championship!” The team’s record has shown their talent so far and everyone is very excited to see how the season progresses.
