After the previous winning season for Braves football, Indian Hills has hired a new head coach to further enhance the program. The new coach, Coach Marangi, previously coached at St. Joseph Regional High School. The football team was a part of the Ivy Division of the Super Football Conference, a division dedicated to increasing program participation and competitiveness. The experience and prestige that Coach Marangi brings to the Braves community are a source of major enthusiasm.
Athletic Director, Mr. Duncan says, “I am excited for what is to come and I am more than happy to be here to help Coach Marangi build our program up to even greater heights than we had been experiencing. I think his coaching experience and success speaks volumes and brings some hype to our football program.” Mr. Duncan discusses how the football program will benefit greatly from the coach’s vast experience and innovative coaching methods. He says, “One key aspect that sets Coach Marangi apart is his commitment to individual player development. Coach has a history of developing players and building tough-nosed teams that compete in every game they play. Coach Marangi also brings a fresh perspective and a winning mentality that we believe will inspire our athletes to push their limits and strive for excellence on and off the field. We are confident that under the guidance of Coach Marangi, our football program will not only meet but rather exceed the goals and aspirations we have set for the upcoming season!”
The Indian Hills football team is eager to work with Coach Marangi and learn from him. Brendan Pelonero, center for the Indian Hills football team, discusses the impact he thinks Coach Marangi will have on the team and the next season: “I think that a lot of people have more respect for the new head coach, and will be more willing to work hard for him and his program.” Pelonero adds, “I think that his experience as a coach will make me a better player but also a better individual. We have morning workouts now which is very nice. This is the first step to winning in September and I’m excited to see what else the new head coach has in store.”
Indian Hills held a meet-and-greet on Sunday, January 14, to generate more excitement about the new coach. The football team’s wide receiver, Luke Festa, was present and expressed his opinions on the meet-and-reet, “The meet-and-greet went really well and there was overall a positive response from the Oakland community.” Festa goes on, expressing his excitement and his goals for the upcoming football season, “With Coach Marangi, I hope that as a player I will be able to be conditioned to a point where I can play the whole game at 100 percent. The ultimate goal is to have a season where we make the playoffs and can hopefully deliver a division championship to this school. However, there is a lot of work that needs to be done by everyone in the program to achieve that, which is why Coach Marangi is going to push each player to their maximum potential.”
Administrators and players alike are looking forward to what the Indian Hills football program has in store for the 2024 fall season.
