At the end of this school year, Mrs. Stanczak, the teacher of English 3 CPE, Dystopian Literature, and Senior Seminar, will be retiring. Reflecting on her time at Indian Hills, Mrs. Stanczak remarks, “I have enjoyed all the people that I have met through the years here at Indian Hills. Some special memories were working with my first supervisor, John Ianacone; organizing author visits to the school so that students can meet some of their favorite authors face to face; writing the curriculum for the Dystopian Literature and Senior Seminar classes and teaching them; and co-advising the Gay-Straight Alliance to support LGBTQ+ students.”
Mrs. Stanczak began teaching at Indian Hills in 1997, marking over two decades of helping students grow. Even in her final school year, she continues to assist students and leave a positive impact on the Indian Hills community. When asked about her plans for the next chapter of her life, Mrs. Stanczak is looking forward to involving herself in “activities that I may not have had time for before, such as volunteering at an animal shelter. I also will be spending time with friends and family, traveling, and certainly reading books that are not on the curriculum!” She is excited for the puppy-filled and peaceful days that await her after retirement.
Next fall, Mrs. Stanczak’s presence will undoubtedly be missed throughout the Indian Hills school community.
