The Indian Hills snack stand has recently undergone an upgrade. Construction started last year after a parent presented the idea to the superintendent three years ago. The Board of Education understood the dire need for improvements. Ramapo High School has a large snack stand equipped with a bathroom, while attendees at Indian Hills were relying on porta-potties.
Athletic Director Mr. Duncan emphasized the importance of including proper bathrooms in the new snack stand plans. He explained, “We have such a beautiful campus and such a great school, and we hold our sports and athletics in such high regard, but then you come to our facilities and there’s no bathroom to use. We wanted something a little nicer for our community to be able to use.”
Nearly one thousand people in the FLOW community showed up for the football home opener on September 12. The line to get food at the snack stand was exceptionally long, and everyone was happy to use a real bathroom, not a porta-potty.
The new snack stand features a complete kitchen, which is operated by Positano Restaurant and Pizzeria. Mr. Duncan has been collaborating with the owner to come up with a menu that is going to be different from what you usually see at high school events. For example, they are looking to serve chicken parm sliders and large garlic knot sandwiches. Along with the kitchen, the second floor is wide open for storage. It will be able to hold a lot of equipment and medical items. There is also an ice machine in the back of the new building for athletes to use.
The new snack stand provides an enhanced experience for spectators at sporting events and is a tremendous help to athletes and coaches. Since the construction of the new building, teams won’t have to lug equipment from the school down to the field, as it will be stored on-site. The new and improved snack stand has already been a hit with the students and the community. Junior Victoria Santhouse said, “The snack stand is amazing! The bathrooms are nice, and I can’t wait to see what cool food options they will serve.” The Braves community can’t wait to see what new possibilities the snack stand can bring to future events!
