From jeans to jewelry, students at Hills are able to openly express themselves through fashion. As the weather gets colder, what are students wearing in the midst of fall?
When walking through the halls, you’ll see a plethora of sweatshirts, sweatpants and slippers. With colder weather approaching, some students have swapped their sneakers for boots and slippers, attempting to add comfort to the chilly school days. Students at Hills are saying the switch starts sometime between September and October. Freshman, Nora Manning, explains, “I usually start wearing my Uggs as soon as the tempurature hits 60℉.” Common combos seen through the school include long sleeve shirts, vests, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and jeans with sweaters. One piece that has been especially popular this year is puffer vests. These vests usually stop around the bottom of the waist and are worn with a long sleeve shirt. Students also are sporting popular clothing brands like Hollister, Brandy Melville, Ugg, White Fox, Garage, Adidas, and Nike.
Shoes from Nike such as the Panda Dunks and the Nike Air Max 270 are common to see right now. The popular shoe brand, Ugg, is also trending in school, as the Tasman ll and Classic Ultra Mini boot can be seen everywhere. Also in the shoe department, Adidas Sambas have taken over the halls. This low-profile athletic shoe has become popular due to its level of comfort and the numerous color combinations it is made in.
Additionally, camo and cheetah print have made a comeback. Most seen through the brand Hollister, true camouflage has become a popular pattern seen on many items of clothing. This version of camo is different from the well known green and brown design. This version is more similar to the version used in military clothing. The most popular apparel item with this pattern is typically sweatshirts. The pattern can be seen in many shades like gray, brown, green, and pink, allowing for students to pair the pattern with different colors. Another popular pattern making a reappearance is cheetah print. In the past couple of months, you may have noticed an increase of students wearing cheetah print sweatshirts and shirts to school. First made popular in the 1950s, this pattern was originally used to portray glamour and Hollywood life, later becoming a staple piece in the 1990s. Today, it has been seen paired with leggings and sweatpants of varying colors.
Overall, each student at hills is combining comfort and style in their own way, making walking through the halls a runway in itself. The change in clothing colder weather brings is always an interesting transition to watch, and gives insight into the most popular brands of the season.
